Teaching in the 21st Century blog post #2

Teaching in the 21st century is going to be a challenge. Not only can kids get a jump start on your lessons but also it will create an generation of teachers who will be hindered in the way they teach. the reason i say this is because the tech generation of teachers will come as an over reliance on technology. As showed in "Mr. Dancealot" the teacher was teaching a dance class but only used technology to show it. He didn't let them actually dance but showed them all on a powerpoint slide then expected them to dance. Needless to say it didn't work.

On the video "Teaching in the 21st Century" they talk about how tech will keep students ahead of teachers. Using google and other available tech to learn. This is a great helper to kids but not the main way to teach. Kids will be able to use this as a tutor along with the teachers own words. They also show each way a kid can learn and what they use like cell phones or Social media.

In the video "Networked Student" They talked about how a student can use devices to expand his learning. In doing so teachers need to encourage this. It will help use as a way to speed up learning process and to help better details. Teachers will use this tool and also use it themselves to stay ahead of students. IN turn the teacher will be able to teach more and  better than before.

In the video "Harness Your Students Digital Smarts" the video explains how a teacher uses tech to further a students learning. In the future teachers can use this same style to get kids involved in the process. By using google maps, a video, or blog a student can really learn to learn own their own.
which can really help kids in the long run be independent. Because we all know knowledge is power.

Dr. Strange brought some good points by showing how kids and his students are learning on computers. Future teachers are going to need to learn how to use tech as well as a student. Because a student has grown up with this they can use it inside and out. a teacher will have to know to be able to answer a question about it.

In the collum i read about lessons in the locker room i was slightly annoyed at the fact this guy doesnt even know sports.Future coaches will contuinue to be a leader in the athletes eyes. Future coaches will have to push students in the classroom. Plus be able to keep kids a tuned and alert on their grades plus use the use of football to teach moral lessons as well!

  1. Turner I hold the same values as you. I believe that technology is indeed a valuable asset to the classroom but we should not rely entirely on this method. Teachers have to be adaptable as well as knowledgeable in any subject matter that are teaching. I agree that teachers are placed low on standards of technology and children are entirely more advanced as far as the use of technology. However, they have to be disciplined on proper technique and utlilization.
